Seedstars is happy to announce the opening of its new entrepreneurship hub in Kazakhstan, Seedspace Nur-Sultan, in collaboration with Astana Innovations and the BI Group on May 17th 2019. The hub is located on the ground floor of the Hilton building on Sauran Street 46, in the business heart of the capital. Holding about 96 seats and 7 coliving rooms, Seedspace Nur-Sultan will focus on attracting entrepreneurs, freelancers and digital nomads in search for a vibrant and dynamic community that wants to create an impact in society through technology and innovation.
To celebrate the opening of the space, Seedstars has decided to open its doors for the public free of charge starting from May 17th for a period of about three weeks, until the flagship program of the company, called the Investment Readiness Program, will begin on June 7th. The program’s aim will be to prepare the most promising Kazakh startups for their next round of funding, with the possibility to receive up to 500,000 USD investment from Seedstars itself.
“We do this in order to create an environment for startups to spend time, share the experience and discuss their projects. We think of this place as a special laboratory where great city projects, from transportation to communal services solutions, will be born”, stated O. Sartaev, Head of Astana Innovations.
Consolidating more than three years of activity in the Central Asian region, Seedstars aims to promote entrepreneurship, technology and innovation to the next level by providing more opportunities for learning and growth to local entrepreneurs. By connecting them to local mentors, investors and ecosystem enablers, Seedspace Nur-Sultan will offer a physical space where new interactions can take place, relationships can be built and entrepreneurial spirit can be fostered. Including in the facilities you will find a conference area available for both recurring as well and occasional events, a coworking space for up to 48 people, 20 private offices in different size and shape for teams, and 7 double rooms in the coliving area which also includes a kitchen and a chill-out area.
“The opening of Seedspace Nur-Sultan is a major milestone for both the city and country as it fosters the connection to a global network of entrepreneurs, mentors, corporates, and investors. Seedspace Nur-Sultan will host in its premises cutting-edge educational activities and support for local entrepreneurs to grow I believe that Seedspace Nur-Sultan will help to get the community together and foster the collaboration among the various stakeholders in the country”, stated Agahuseyn Ahmadov, Regional Manager for CEE & Central Asia at Seedstars. He also mentioned that “We are launching in June 7th our Investment Readiness Program in Kazakhstan, so that startups relocate to the hub in order to work in different areas of their business, supported by office hours of the experts of Seedstars”. Startups can apply here.
However, there’s much more planned for the local entrepreneurs in Eastern Europe and Central Asia: the Seedstars World Competition is about to begin this year’s tour and will welcome the most promising startups to compete for the global winner’s position, awarded 500,000 USD in investment at the annual Seedstars Summit. This year’s summit, which recently took place in Switzerland this April, saw over 1,000 participants from all around the world gather to discuss the latest trends in tech, create new business relationships and learn about different investment opportunities.
The next nearby local competitions will happen in Nur-Sultan in July, in Tbilisi and Baku in June, followed by Tashkent, Chisinau, Yerevan, Moscow, Kyiv and other cities. In order to participate, startups will be required to register on this website by filling out an application form. Out of all the applicants, the eight best startups will be invited to pitch in a jury panel and compete to be crowned the most promising seed-stage startup of the city. All the startups who will be selected to the local jury panel will also be rewarded with one free month of our brand new Investment Readiness Program, while the winning startup will continue on its path to the Regional Summit in December 2019 and thereafter Global Summit in April 2020.
