MARCH 17, 2020
Living in the era of the ‘technology Renaissance’ as the digital merges with the physical, and robots are capable of executing surgeries on the human brain, requires a completely new approach to education starting in early childhood, continuing through higher and adult education. It requires a so-called T-shaped approach when deep disciplinary expertise blends with cross-cutting knowledge.
So, how to meet the demand of the global market for highly skilled workers, who are capable of solving complex challenges? How to integrate the T-Shaped philosophy into teaching and learning? How to increase the quality of education especially in emerging markets that constantly undergo significant social and economic transformations?
At Seedstars, we believe that it can be achieved only through close collaboration of the private sector, government and grass-roots initiatives. That’s why we have been partnering with TRECC and the School of Management Fribourg (HEG Fribourg) for the last few years to find and support the best startups in Edtech globally. We are proud to have startups such as Asafeer Education Technologies and Schoolap among the winners of The Transforming Education Prize 2017 and 2019. In 2020, Programa Valentina joined the awardees lineup as the winner. Programa Valentina is an acceleration program that trains basic skills to unemployed young talents in Guatemala and matches them with the needs of companies.
In our episode, you will learn more about the impact those startups have on their societies and the world.
